Maria Theresa Thaler, known as “Maria Theresa Dollar,” is a silver coin minted initially in Austria until 1780 and named after Queen Maria Theresa, Ruler of Austria and Hungary.

The currency was used in global trade and was the official currency in Oman and the Trucial States.

It was also used in silver jewellery across the Arabian Peninsula.
