ABK Participates in Watheefti Career Fair - the First of its Kind in Kuwait

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) participated in Watheefti Career Fair, the largest and first national-level fair in Kuwait with the aim of developing Kuwait’s manpower and encouraging young Kuwaitis to build their careers in the private sector.

Held at The Arena in 360 Mall from the 5th to the 7th of January, Watheefti closely reflects ABK’s social responsibility objectives of empowering Kuwait’s youth and securing their future by providing them with the right opportunities to grow and make their dreams a reality through employment in the private sector, specifically within the banking industry.

Over 80 companies participated in the career fair to meet hundreds of potential young Kuwaiti candidates from a range of sectors including oil, banking, investment, and insurance, among others. Furthermore, a series of conferences will be held to shed light on the labour market’s conditions and how to manage them. This is in addition to the provision of career guidance and counselling as well as workshops to develop various skills pertaining to attending interviews, resume writing, and a series of other related activities.

During ABK’s presence at the career fair, the Human Resources team received approximately 200 employment applications and conducted around 50 on-the-spot interviews.

Commenting on the event, Ms. Afrah Al Arbash, ABK’s Acting General Manager for Human Resources, said, "We are very pleased to participate in Watheefti Career Fair as it presents the bank with a valuable opportunity to meet the young Kuwaiti talents who will lead the country’s future economy. Supporting young national talents remains a major focus and future vision of the bank where we are keen to employ these talents and support them to achieve a bright future.”

She continued, "These events help catalyze the process of positive change in society by facilitating the transformation of the private sector into an attractive environment for young talents through the provision of more job future opportunities."

Ms. Afrah Al-Arbash added that ABK offers an ideal work environment for fresh graduates to kick start their careers due to its transparency and keenness to provide worthwhile opportunities for growth and career development. The bank also pro-vides specialized training programs to assist in skill development to keep up with the market pace and give employees a competitive advantage in their fields.
