KIB continues to educate its clients about the risks of fraud

As part of its ongoing support for “Let's Be Aware” campaign

Kuwait International Bank (KIB) is continuing its efforts aimed at educating its customers and enhancing their financial literacy, in line with the banking awareness “Let's Be Aware” campaign, which was launched three years ago by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) in cooperation with the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA). KIB's commitment to this campaign stems from its keenness to providing its customers with secure banking services and introducing them to all their financial rights and duties, all while improving the performance and efficiency of the banking sector.

Commenting on this step, Dawood Behbehani, the Executive Manager - Assistant Head of Information Security, Privacy and Anti-Fraud at the Bank, said: “At KIB, we are committed to combating fraud attempts and deceptive advertisements that aim to violate the privacy of customers and steal their financial and personal data. We also realize the importance of our role in educating our customers about the need to avoid becoming victims of fraud. Consequently, we are working to publish financial awareness materials and content across all KIB’s digital and electronic channels in order to inform our customers about the correct and safe methods to follow once exposed to any fraud attempts.”

Concluding his statement, Behbehani introduced a set of recommendations that customers must consider, such as the immediate reporting of suspected scams and suspicious or unusual activity on bank accounts or debit and credit cards by contacting the Bank’s customer service center at 1866866. He also warned against responding to any call requesting banking card information and the OTP, suspicious e-mail or text messages or clicking on any links that may be provided in those messages, including the installation of any apps instructed by the callers. Behbehani also stressed that KIB would never ask for any private banking details, one-time passwords (OTPs), or PINs by email or SMS.

He also underlined the importance of activating alerts to view the details of each banking transaction and to ensure its safety and validity, especially when making payments via electronic and digital channels. In addition, the account and credit card balance must be checked periodically and regularly, while the password and PIN number should be changed frequently.
